Oracle Database Administrator

About the role

Exiting opportunity where you will use your strong technical skills, and experience to manage Oracle databases running on Exadata and VMWare. This role will also be the secondary support for all SQL servers. The role will be varied, ranging from working closely with applications, Middleware and System Administrators assisting with installation, upgrading, patching and problem management of platform to monitoring and responding to system alerts, managing backup and restoration processes, proactive and reactive performance tuning and maintaining operational reports. Creating and managing database administration jobs including, but not limited to backups, consistency checks, index optimisation. Creating and managing database reporting jobs including, but not limited to capacity planning, inventory management. You will provide after hours on-call support required for Business Critical Situations.

About you

Experienced in supporting large sites within an Oracle & SQL environment, app installation, configuration and integration will set you up for success in this role. Experience with Microsoft Windows IIS, ITIL knowledge (certification desirable) and Experience in upgrading and patching Oracle environments will be essential. You will be a team player, Contribute to success of Infrastructure colleagues and overall strategy. You will develop and maintain system documentation on and an on-going basis and identify opportunities to hand over support functions to the support centre in order to improve first call resolution, be an analytical thinker and natural problem solver. Continual process and Service Improvement – Identify areas of opportunity by analysing systems, requests an incident data and putting forward recommendations to improve the environment and processes. You will have proven implementation and support of virtualised infrastructure. You will be a strong communicator, with a knowledge of current trends and the ability to performance tune and troubleshoot under pressure
