Senior Technical Consultant

To support such a vision, we are currently seeking to hire a Senior Consultant Technical for an exciting opportunity within the Telstra Global Services Consulting Practices unit in Sydney reporting to the GM of Business Technology Consulting.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a key role in Business Technology Services, as a member of the customer technical interface (as a Customer Technical Lead) for our team to one of our largest strategic enterprise customers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Developing and delivering technology consulting services following either standardised or tailored methodologies and practices
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for consulting and solutions delivery
  • Contributing to thought leadership through the development of client facing consulting materials on key topics and contributing to the development of reusable intellectual property
  • Actively identifying and managing the development of business opportunities and assisting the sales teams qualify, build and close opportunities.
  • At the higher end will have business accountability in addition to a consulting specialisation, this may be an industry segment, customer account or leading a team of Consultants.
  • HSE Responsibility: Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others, comply with and implement any reasonable Telstra HSE instruction, policy, standard, minimum requirement or procedure, and support Telstra to meet its duties under the relevant safety and environmental legislation.

The responsibilities of this role are also directly aligned to the consulting mission which are:

Innovation and Thought Leadership – development of client facing consulting materials to communicate the Telstra point of view and perspective on key topics and contribute to the development of reusable IP to maximise the value that Telstra can provide to clients. Key elements to this are:

  • Build thought leadership assets for external and internal client leverage
  • Contribute to the development
  • Service Catalogue items and consulting assets
  • Point Of View papers “Industry Foresight”

 Business Development and Accelerating Sales – working to develop programs with clients, assisting the sales team to differentiate Telstra value with consulting and leading advisory consulting engagements to shape and influence client initiatives. Key elements to this are: 

  • Assist the sales teams qualify, build and close opportunities while leveraging consulting to deliver differentiated value to clients
  • Lead shaping client thinking & direction through strategy and consulting
  • Contribute to build the pipeline and accelerate sales leveraging consulting and consulting IP for both direct business and pull through business
  • Consulting Delivery - Consultants also take accountability to capture IP and turn into reusable assets to be leveraged by the wider consulting team.
  • Specialist knowledge of one or more industries or segments, coupled with strong analytical & consultative skills.
  • Deliver projects profitably while creating high customer advocacy
  • Build client references through delivery excellence
  • Create and capture consulting best practices and delivery IP & incorporate into KM framework to improve repeatability and profitability

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES

  • Graduate or post graduate qualifications (or equivalent industry professional experience) in relevant field such as Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering or Computer Science with substantial experience in information technology and telecommunications networks and applications
  • TOGAF, ITIL, Riverbed
  • Cisco Certification – CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, CCIP, CCIE
  • VMWare or other Virtualisation Technologies
  • Must have proven extensive experience in delivering business and technology consultancy services to large and medium sized enterprise organisations
  • Must have proven solid deep Subject Matter Expertise delivered to clients in two or more technology domains
  • Experience across multiple Sectors/ Industries
  • Qualifications include: ITIL V3 Expert
  • Experience with industry/ enterprise consulting and delivery methods based on COBIT, TOGAF, Prince2, ITIL, Telstra TRIM, etc.
  • Previous experience with ICT Consultancy
  • Previous experience in contributing to development of consulting practices and consulting teams
  • Contributing to developing, monetising and executing a consulting strategy
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders – internal and external customers
  • Experience in developing customer consulting presentations – Proof of Value, Point of View, Approach and Outcome
