Role Purpose

We are looking for Principal Performance & Reward, People & Transformation to lead the plan, develop and deliver remuneration or reward strategies designed to support Company or the Business Units strategic business plan, and, where applicable, statutory requirements.

Contribution to Strategy

The People Strategy is designed to address our enterprise challenges and drive the transformational change required to build an agile and brilliantly connected Telstra. Within this, we are looking to drive a high performance culture whereby we reward great performance, retain talent, engage our people and remain competitive in the market. This leading role ensures that we achieve these goals partnering with the business and Transformation and People team to align our remuneration framework to the strategies and goals of the organisation.

The key outcome in this role is the successful design and delivery of Telstra’s enterprise wide Remuneration framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate strategies and programs to achieve the business people strategies, basing strategies on relevant supporting data
  • Provide thought leadership and influence people programs to maximise return on investment
  • Actively participate in cross HR/change management projects, recognising issues that may have an impact on the business unit and/or the wider Telstra
  • Design of Telstra’s core reward framework (job framework, pay ranges and annual change program).
  • Manage and deliver Telstra’s reporting obligations under the Structural Separation Undertaking (verification of incentive arrangements) and Workplace Gender Equality Act (performance against gender equality indicators)
  • Identify opportunities to partner with other HR Teams to achieve the best possible people outcomes
  • Recommend business plan, goals and measures
  • Develop and Execute the enterprise wide Performance & Remuneration strategy to drive a high performance culture
  • Lead the Remuneration & Benefits stream of all MA&I activities
  • Development of Board papers as required
  • Engage across Telstra to continually drive process and efficiency improvements and enhance effective governance mechanisms
  • Innovate our remuneration strategies aligned  to Telstra’s strategic plan.

Essential skills and experience

  • Deep subject matter knowledge in the area of employee remuneration and reward
  • Coaching, Driving Change, Strategic Thinking and Planning, Business Partnering, Commercial Acumen, Agility
  • Ability to develop and lead enterprise level strategies
  • High levels of collaboration and influence 
  • Strong stakeholder management, partnering and cross functional team experience
  • Ability to manage programs of work end-to-end delivering within agreed timeframes, scope and resources
  • A commercial mindset and approach.
  • Advanced in use of Excel and Power Point
  • Communication impact at all levels
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications business

Highly desirable

  • Experience in a Remuneration leadership role within an ASX listed organisation.
  • Senior Remuneration consulting experience acting in a client advisory capacity.
