About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Tax this role is responsible for the management of TAL’s corporate taxes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing TAL’s corporate taxes including:
  • Ensuring all income tax matters relating to the TAL Group are dealt with in accordance with the law and are accurately reported
  • Advising on the income tax and withholding tax implications of transactions
  • Advising on the implications of new tax laws
  • Managing tax risk across the Group
  • Managing ATO enquiries and audits
  • Fostering and promoting strong internal and external partnerships with regards to tax including with external auditors
  • Providing advice regarding products including reviewing and drafting the tax disclosures made in customer communications including PDSs, annual statements and marketing material
  • Supporting other tax functions.
  • Prepare the annual income tax return for the TAL tax consolidated group, including supporting documentation, relevant calculations and disclosures, ensuring all are in accordance with the requirements of the law and the ATO
  • Review monthly tax provision and tax effect accounting for the non-life entities in the Group
  • Provide tax advice to the business and internal customers and promote tax awareness throughout the organisation

About You

Ideally you will have at least 8 years corporate tax experience with relevant tertiary qualifications. You have In-depth knowledge of tax legislation ideally as applicable to tax consolidated groups with life insurance operations and hands on experience of tax effect accounting. You also have an understanding of the life insurance industry and strong tax compliance and advisory skills including focus on ascertaining the facts and preparing analyses supporting positions.

The ability to disseminate technical and/or complex information to clients at all levels and excellent written communication skills, as well as strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
