Grounds & Maintenance Officer

About the Role:

 

Join a close-knit team in a full-time role, working 5 days per week between Monday – Friday at the Mernda Retirement Village. As our friendly onsite Grounds & Maintenance Officer, you will be kept on your feet assisting across a variety of maintenance tasks ensuring the continued comfort, safety and happiness of our valued residents.

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Completing minor internal repairs in units and around the village including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting needs
  • Ensuring all communal areas are tidy and well-maintained and removing rubbish
  • Minor groundsman duties including lawn mowing, hedging, and tidying of gardens
  • Assisting with ad hoc projects as required
  • Inducting and managing contractors on site

 

About You

 

You will be a reliable and personable individual looking for a flexible hands-on role where you can make a positive difference. Bringing with you a wide variety of general handyman skills, you will feel confident stepping up to a range of maintenance tasks. In addition, you will also;

 

  • Have previous experience working in a maintenance or similar role
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail and adherence to WHS
  • Take pride in consistently delivering a high quality of work
  • Be confident interacting and communicating with a wide variety of people
  • Be genuinely interested in working with the residents and be at ease interacting with a wide variety of people.
