Every year when kids are out of their learning environments over summer, their learning from the previous year decays. Starting next year up to 2 months behind, this loss is cumulative for each year's summer. Worse, the problem is more evident in students from lower-socioeconomic backgrounds to the point where studies out of the US see summer learning loss responsible for up to 80% of education disparity in school leavers.
STEM Explorer is aiming to fix this, by delivering an educational application to school kids aged 5-9 via mobile, tablet and desktop. Launched only in January 2017, we have what we think is a really cool product that works. You can find it in the app store here and google play here.
We are looking for a CEO to help drive the growth of our startup. As the sister company of FlexCareers, STEM Explorer already has a great go-to-market channel in the community of 40k+ candidates, most of whom are parents to young kids. And we have some great relationships into corporate Australia to help when the time comes. But up to now, the vast bulk of the founding team's efforts have had to be directed towards Flex, hence the need for leadership solely focused on STEM.
You will be a natural leader, self motivated and collaborative by nature. You might have had experience leading your own startup, but interest and deep level of knowledge in STEM education is a must-have. A network within education and edutech players will help you succeed . If all goes well, offshore expansion for the northern summer is on the cards for June 2017.
