Senior Civil Engineer - Mine

Situated in the beautiful Latrobe Valley, AGL’s Loy Yang Mine and Power Station is only 90 minutes from Melbourne, 60 minutes to the ocean and the snow! Close by, the town of Traralgon has seen new infrastructure recently with upgraded leisure centre, swimming pool, basketball courts, performing arts and movie theatre.

The work associated with the civil infrastructure includes developing, maintaining or managing:

  • Road networks,
  • Water supply and fire protection systems,
  • Fire detection and suppression systems,
  • Aquifer depressurisation and groundwater collections system,
  • Mine drainage and dewatering systems, and
  • Earthworks projects.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide sound engineering expertise to support the activities of the Planning and Development Section and the whole of Mine
  • Provide oversight of the regulatory and compliance activities of the department
  • Complete engineering scoping and supervision of technical and other professional specialists
  • Develop long term and strategic plans and budgets for applicable asset systems and ensure these are aligned with the business’s budgets and strategic plans
  • Project development for civil construction, and maintenance activities performed by service providers in a manner that satisfies safety, time, cost, and quality requirements
  • Liaise with the AGL Technical Services Group on Mine Civil asset condition and risks, and performance of a broad range of administrative duties
  • Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems are introduced and adhered to while meeting the organisations policies and standards for HSE Management

To be successful, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in civil infrastructure, having worked across diverse projects in either a construction or consultancy-based environment
  • Extensive experience in the development and upkeep of asset strategies
  • Technical expertise in the provision of project development and management activities
  • Sound interpersonal skills at all levels of the business
