Distribution Centre Manager, NSW DC's


Based in Sydney the primary responsibility of this role is for our Ingleburn Distribution Centre (DC), which is our largest DC in the Pacific zone, with additional responsibility for our smaller satellite DC in Smeaton Grange. This role reports to Logistics Operations Director and leads a self-motivated and experienced team of approximately 10 direct reports and 132 indirect.

 

What does success in this key leadership role look like? Safe and effective management of the DC operations. Essentially meeting all internal and external customer requirements, ensuring quality, service levels and cost control for all material flow which includes; local and overseas market. The operational aspects of the function will be in line with organizational performance indicators and be complemented by strong communication between the DC and all internal and external stakeholders.

 

Specific individual highlighted responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Strong leadership of team including embedding a coaching and feedback culture
  • Implementation of a sustainable stock movement system
  • Model & reinforce safety culture to ensure best practices are embedded
  • Ensure regular reporting and monthly action plans are executed with all stakeholders
  • Communicate and drive activities from the strategic plan to ensure improvement targets are met
  • Liaise closely with different functions to anticipate or solve operational distribution issues

Whilst we do not want to narrow the field, we believe instrumental to success in this role will be the following.

  • Leadership experience in a large scale operational environment (supply chain, logistics, quality, manufacturing or similar)
  • Formal qualification in logistics/operations or a management related discipline would be highly advantageous but only when validated by extensive operational experience
  • Successful track record in the implementing quality systems and tools
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and written at all levels, solid problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set and direct to a future direction
