Role Profile

The role, based in Sydney, reports into the regional Head of Risk LCH Ltd. The role is focused on the activities of the SwapClear service in the Asia region.

This is a part time position (9:30am – 2:30pm)

Key responsibilities of the role:

The Risk team is responsible for:

  • 1. Running the SwapClear service safely and efficiently

i. Setting up and maintaining a robust control environment

ii. Valuing the customer swap positions, making regular margin calls (initial margin and variation margin), regularly re-sizing the default fund

  • 2. Deliver meaningful change and improvement

i. Deliver tangible improvements to operating environment, e.g. by automating processes

ii. Assist in launching new products and services

  • 3. External engagement

i. Develop and maintain strong and successful relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside LCH.

ii. Ensure customers are well-briefed on upcoming changes and their feedback is appropriately prioritised

iii. Respond to customer questions on risk matters

  • 4. Ensuring readiness to manage a default

i. Ensure we as a service (including support areas) are ready and well practised at all aspects of a default.

ii. Support group ‘firedrill’ tests where relevant.

The risk team has a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key behaviours and skills required to be successful in the role:

The successful applicant will:

  • Be educated to degree level, preferably in a scientific or financial major
  • Have 3-8 years experience in a financial services organisation, preferably with exposure to interest rate derivatives
  • Have knowledge of standard valuation and risk management techniques e.g. yield curve construction, sensitivity ladders, VaR, stress testing
  • Have strong attention to detail, process focus, and be a good communicator
