IT Infrastructure Automation and Orchestration Engineer - 9 months contract


We have an exciting new project coming up in the Infrastructure Services Automation Team where you will be providing Self-Service delivery and operational tasks to our consumers using a combination of VMware vRealize and Puppet.  Our new platform is set up and we are looking for someone to hit the ground running to enable our delivery and operational teams to offer self-service tasks.

Do work that makes a difference

  • Be the IT champion for patch automation of Operating Systems and other software
  • Analyse, design, develop, test and document the pre and post patching tasks using agreed enterprise standards, processes and tools to achieve a well-engineered result
  • Configure patching platforms to execute the patching process according to a predefined schedule
  • Work with Infrastructure Services to lead the implementation and adoption of the automated patching activities
  • Provide System Owners with visibility of their systems patching schedule and status

Skills and Experience

  • Experience with VMware Automation and Orchestration including Blueprints and Workflows
  • Strong Puppet development skills with Linux OS (RHEL)
  • Development or scripting experience with knowledge of programming languages
  • Experience in standard integration protocols (SOAP, REST API)
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps principles, tools and frameworks is desirable
  • Knowledge of GIT based source control e.g. TFS, AzureDevOps, GitLab, BitBucket
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills applicable to application support and development
  • A history of completing tasks and projects with minimal supervision and experience working with Agile Methodologie
