Regulatory Advisor


An exciting opportunity has become available for a Regulatory Advisor to join AGL’s Regulatory and Compliance function in a permanent capacity.

Reporting to the Senior Regulatory Advisor Lead, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a range of initiatives by providing regulatory advice and compliance expertise on all facets of the retail energy market.

You will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of all new and changed regulatory obligations affecting the business. Your focus will be on ensuring that sustainable and preventative controls are implemented to maintain ongoing compliance and adherence.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide well-considered regulatory advice, including system and process initiatives, new product development and credit and billing initiatives
  • Provide advice and recommendations that are solution orientated and look to maximise business outcomes
  • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of new regulatory obligations
  • Evaluate legislation and regulation for new regulatory obligations and assess impacts to processes, systems and strategy
  • Keep up to date with industry developments that impact on operations and brief relevant teams on changes
  • Provide compliance expertise in relation to the identification, investigation and resolution of incidents
  • Execute an ongoing internal education program to ensure understanding of regulatory obligations

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Previous experience within a regulatory or compliance role or exposure to implementing regulatory changes
  • Experience in the retail energy industry (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Legal skills for interpreting regulatory impacts on business processes, systems and outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a commitment to quality in the preparation of written reports and submissions
  • An excellent level of stakeholder engagement with the ability to present to managers and teams on regulatory compliance interpretation and issues
