Your Responsibilities:

The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a field-based Medical Affairs Associate of Novartis, whose role is to develop peer-to-peer relationships with Medical Experts/Key Stakeholders and members of the scientific community.

As part of our broader MSL team, you will strategically prepare and support the development, launch and commercialization of Novartis products through scientific exchange; seeking external insight to shape Novartis’s understanding of the therapeutic environment. You will also be accountable for responding to unsolicited requests for scientific information and provide clinical trial support.

What will your role involve?

  • Develop professional relationships, build advocacy and gain contributions of decision makers
  • Collect, analyse and report insights that may impact Novartis development plans
  • Liaise and provide up to date medical support to relevant external groups to facilitate listing of products in medical guidelines, formularies to impact pricing and health – economic discussions
  • Contribute to the identification of appropriate clinical investigators and facilitates placement into Novartis sponsored clinical trials
  • Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to physicians, individually or in groups
  • Travel across Australia, spending approximately 70% of your time in-field talking to experts within the Cardio Metabolic therapy area

What you’ll bring to the role:

To be successful in this role you will ideally have previous experience working within the Pharmaceutical industry in a Medical Liaison role. You have proven your ability to develop trusted peer-to-peer relationships with medical experts and decision makers. You are customer focused and responsive with a high level of personal integrity – you can influence others and overcome objections because you are truly passionate about the products in this portfolio. You’re autonomous and a self-starter, as well as being collaborative and able to work within a large team.

You will ideally bring to the role:

  • A relevant qualification such as MD, PharmD, PharmB is essential
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine, disease management, or medical research within cardiology or diabetes therapy areas
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate scientific information to a diverse audience; from physicians to patients to internal colleagues
  • Ability to adapt, organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing field-based environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and be empowered to take on your territory as your own
