Aurecon’s Energy and Resources team based in Perth considers itself a key player in the future of the resources industry in Western Australia. The team is primarily responsible for the provision of design and design management services required to support the planning, scoping, estimating and delivery of a wide range of project types from inception to implementation and asset management.

Opportunities exists for experienced Mechanical Engineers to join our team in the Perth office. This work will unlock the value that a different approach to people, processes and systems brings to Iron Ore production, now and in to the future.

The Role:

  • Preparation of engineering designs, specifications calculations and reports
  • Actively generate new, as well as develop and maintain existing client relationships
  • Work closely with other disciplines to deliver work and bring clients ideas to life
  • Assume responsibility for the delivery of the mechanical components of large and complex projects
  • Manage project planning and resourcing activities
  • Continue to develop mechanical engineering skills and add value to the wider team through the mentoring and guidance of junior engineers and drafters
  • Ensure designs and site works are safe and compliant with all relevant safety standards
  • Dewatering engineering solutions
  • Pumping and piping design
  • Hydraulic modelling (including experience with hydraulic modelling software ie FluidFlow, PipeFlo, WaterGems)
  • Optimisation strategies
  • Preparing and reviewing mechanical equipment specifications and data sheets
  • Preparing engineering lists for equipment / spares / valves / pipelines 
  • Providing Mechanical / Piping design and provision of information to our Drafting team for the preparation of design drawings
  • Reviewing and compiling vendor documentation (drawings, data sheets, manuals) and implementing engineering interface data onto the drawings via our Drafting team

About You:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as RPEQ
  • Ideally 5-10 years’ experience in Mechanical design
  • Excellent understanding of Australian Standards
  • Be capable of building relationships and working in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing
  • Demonstrated exposure to project development and/or delivery in the Queensland market
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Proven ability to deliver appropriate engineering solutions within a specified time frame
  • Experienced in delivering innovative and complex multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects in a fast paced environment
  • Strong client focus
