Transaction Support & Investigations Consultant

Banking and Financial Services Group (BFS) is the primary relationship manager for Macquarie's retail client base in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America and Europe. Products and services include wealth management, stockbroking and retail lending and banking solutions such as residential and commercial mortgages, investment lending, credit cards and relationship banking to businesses and professionals.

The Macquarie Banking and Financial Services (BFS) - Service Sales Centre & Operations division provides a consistent, yet specialised client experience for a range of client types. With up to 700 staff our scalable business model is designed to provide the highest level of service for products such as cash, term deposits, money market, wrap, super, insurance, broking, business banking and mortgages.

Description of Role:

As a Transaction Support & Investigations consultant you will provide operational support to the Business Banking business within BFS.  This role requires a good understanding of the banking industry and related transactions and you will be responsible for ensuring that a wide range of clients’ financial needs are met. You will be the primary contact point for clients (both internal and external) and advisers and will be required to liaise with stakeholders and other financial institutions on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Investigation of transactions originating from various financial  institutions
  • Liaise with other financial institutions for special answers on cheques
  • Review of suspect cheques and presentment requests
  • Processing of dishonoured payments
  • Manage expectations of key stakeholders regarding timing of high priority requests
  • Complete all deliverables within agreed timelines
  • Escalate any issues that cannot be resolved to management
  • Ensure all information is 100% accurate the first time
  • Find solutions that meet client's needs and result in the best outcome for the client
  • Follow through on all agreed actions within the timelines agreed and manage the client's expectations of next steps
  • Work within a team environment to solve/meet client needs
  • Manage fluctuating workloads and be flexible to work additional hours at times
  • Other tasks as requested by the Team Leader on an ad-hoc basis

Experience, Skills & Knowledge Required for the Role:

  • Previous experience in banking preferred
  • Highly articulate with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work to set guidelines and procedures when required
  • Ability to take instructions and follow them meticulously
  • Key focus on risk management, understanding the implications when procedures are not followed
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and adapt to change with ease
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Problem solving skills with a strong outcome focus
  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably with a degree in Finance or Business/ RG 146/PS 146 compliant/in progress
