Technology Lawyer

Join a team of digital and IT lawyers and be responsible for advising our Retail Bank on digital and technology transformation projects across our personal banking, business banking and wealth divisions.

You will review, draft and negotiate IT and IT related agreements including software, API and platform licensing, ‘as a service’ agreements, master services agreements and statements of work, professional services agreements, outsourcing agreements, joint venture and alliance agreements, data sharing agreements, various ‘back end’ agreements for customer facing digital services and IT aspects of white label arrangements and sales and acquisitions.

You will also work closely with all of our Banking & Financial Services Group product and regulatory lawyers, and the Privacy General Counsel, on the delivery of digital and IT initiatives. You will support and work closely with development and implementation of innovative digital products and service offerings in an Enterprise Agile way. You’ll also collaborate with Compliance, IT Security, Conduct Risk and Operational Risk in developing practical approaches to legal and compliance issues, providing legal input into approval processes.

To be a success in this role, you will be a qualified lawyer with 5+ years’ experience gained in either an IT/TMT team in a law firm or as an in-house technology lawyer.  Ideally, you will also have had some experience in technology matters for the financial services industry, however relevant experience in other industry sectors will also be considered. A sound understanding of privacy and intellectual property law will be an advantage.

Your creative mindset, keen interest in digital and emerging technologies will help your understanding of innovations, disruptions and developments in the technology sector. You’ll have excellent drafting, negotiation and persuasion skills, coupled with the ability to make sound commercial decisions in a timely manner.

Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will enable you to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including senior members of the business. You will have an ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. You will be flexible, adaptable and committed to continuously evolving your legal skills and industry knowledge to ensure delivery of highest quality legal support to the business.
