Technology Lawyer

An exciting new opportunity for you to join a team of digital and IT lawyers and be responsible for advising our Banking & Financial Services division on its digital and technology transformation projects across its personal banking, business banking and wealth divisions. This position is a full-time role, but we are willing to consider part-time and flexible working arrangements for the right candidate!

You will review, draft and negotiating IT and IT related agreements including software, API and platform licensing, ‘as a service’ agreements, master services agreements and statements of work, professional services agreements, outsourcing agreements, joint venture and alliance agreements, data sharing agreements, various ‘back end’ agreements for customer facing digital services and IT aspects of white label arrangements and sales and acquisitions.

You will also work closely with all of the Banking & Financial Services Legal team’s product and regulatory lawyers and the Privacy General Counsel on the delivery of digital and IT initiatives and advise on intellectual property law matters. You will support and work closely with the business in connection with its development and implementation of innovative digital products and service offerings in an Enterprise Agile way as well as working with Compliance, IT Security, Conduct Risk and Operational Risk in developing practical approaches to legal and compliance issues and legal input into approval processes.

You will be a qualified lawyer with 4+ years’ experience gained in either an IT/TMT team in a law firm or as an in-house technology lawyer.  Ideally you will also have had some experience in technology matters for the financial services industry, however relevant experience in other industry sectors will also be considered.

To be a success in this role, you will also have a creative mindset and a keen interest in digital and emerging technologies, as well as an excellent understanding of innovations, disruptions and developments in the technology sector. Additionally, you will possess excellent drafting, negotiation and persuasion skills and the ability to make sound commercial decisions in a timely manner.

You will also need strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including senior members of the business, excellent interpersonal and team player skills with demonstrated experience in collaborating within and across teams. You will have an ability to work independently where required, manage competing priorities and be flexible and adaptable with a learning mind-set and commitment to continuous evolution of legal skills and industry knowledge, ensuring delivery of highest quality of legal support to the business.
