Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist

We have a unique opportunity available for a Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist, the role will help drive the implementation of a new framework and develop the maturity of SAM across Macquarie.

Utilising your strong relationship building and communication skills, this "hands on" role will see you provide licensing subject matter expertise to ensure daily activities of the team are executed according to our strategy and plans, whilst also working closely with product owners and their teams to ensure the appropriate software licensing is procured against stated usage. If the prospect of joining a SAM function at the beginning of its journey and lifecycle excites you, then this role is for you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • providing software licensing subject matter expertise to Technology and Business teams who are assessing new solutions or upgrades to existing solutions to provide recommendations on the appropriate licensing required to support the intended usage
  • completion of regular baseline reconciliation updates for key vendors to the agreed timelines, engaging with Product Owners and Technology resources across the bank as required
  • providing direction and requirements to the SAM Tools Team to ensure all tools required by them are maintained and extended in support of the SAM strategy
  • identifying cost saving opportunities with renewals and general license usage
  • identifying required remediation activities in order to restore Macquarie’s compliance position with software vendors.

Ideally you will have an understanding of license metrics with some of the key software vendors at Macquarie Group (Microsoft, SAP, IBM & Oracle), as well as sound comprehension of IT environments/infrastructure. Familiarity with SAM standards or frameworks (e.g. ISO 19770-X) is an advantage, and your ability to work collaboratively within a team based environment is essential.
