Senior Technical Unix Engineer - VCS skills


Join a global Unix team as an experienced Technical Unix Resource and play an instrumental role in supporting and delivering solutions and product innovation for our Retail, Asset Finance and Digital businesses.

You will primarily be tasked with maintaining good relationships with our various business users as well as the wider global IT team. You'll also participate in the provision of operation support across the global Unix estate at Macquarie and be accountable for the technical delivery of UNIX products involving system design, build, deployment and migration.

In addition, we are looking for you to bring a wealth of previous experiences in building and supporting enterprise class installations.

It will be essential that you bring:

  • previous experience in a UNIX (Solaris/ Linux) operations and /or engineering capacity, preferably in a global financial services organisation
  • in-depth knowledge of Veritas Cluster (VCS SME expertise)
  • extensive experience of troubleshooting, capacity planning and performance tuning.

It's a bonus if you have the following:

  • Redhat, Solaris and/or Veritas certification
  • played a significant role in the roll out of a large operational/engineering project
  • demonstrated experience with Cloud technologies
  • solid experience with various virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware)
  • demonstrated experience in documenting environment build patterns for standard and repeatable deployments
  • detailed knowledge of TCP networking and associated protocols
  • exposure to DevOps working methodologies
  • experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g. Puppet, Ansible)
  • demonstrated experience with design and build of Highly Available Architectures.
