Senior Tax Manager, Banking and Financial Services - Sydney

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen  in the Tax Management team within Banking and Financial Services (BFS) division of Macquarie Group for an experienced Tax Manager to join our Sydney team.

You will join a team which currently provides guidance to a range of internal stakeholders on various taxation matters. Our team has a strong reputation as a leader and innovator in its area of expertise.

Reporting directly to the Taxation Information Officer, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver on the following:

  • Provide detailed analysis and advice on a broad range of banking tax issues
  • Manage and implement important regulatory change projects
  • Involvement in industry lobbying to achieve regulatory change in line with business requirements
  • Updating and educating stakeholders on tax related changes and identifying practical approaches to the implementation of tax laws
  • Liaising with the ATO and other third parties, as required;
  • Identifying improvements on existing tax practises and processes as well as maintaining compliance with current regulations and policies;
  • Providing guidance to financial advisers in relation to non-super tax issues
  • Providing training and support to internal stakeholders regarding technical tax concepts

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive corporate tax or financial services tax experience (ideally 5+ years)
  • Tertiary qualifications in areas such as accounting/commerce, business, finance or law
  • Completion of suitable post graduate qualifications (e.g. CA, CPA or Masters of Tax)
  • Experience from a Big 4 Accounting Firm or Financial Institution will be highly regarded
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • A demonstrated interest in finance, investment and superannuation
  • Attention to detail and the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • The ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated
