Product Owner

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic Product Owner who is keen to drive the delivery of our continuous improvement and transformation program of our key applications and technical platforms. These continuous improvements include product and system enhancements, efficiency improvements, re-platforming and migrations, and regulatory, compliance and stability initiatives.

The responsibilities of this role: 

  • managing the product backlog for the Scrum team. This includes identifying, grooming and prioritising items, ensuring the value of the work the feature team delivers, and ensuring that the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear
  • backlog refinement at both feature and story level
  • iteration Planning and prioritisation ensuring a constant flow of “Ready” user stories for sprints
  • assisting in writing and developing acceptance criteria, accepting stories 
  • participate in team reviews (demos) and retrospectives
  • showcasing value and team delivery
  • work closely with the business and technical stakeholders
  • promote continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • strong senior stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • strong problem solving and analytical skills with good attention to detail
  • an ability to think strategically and articulate a clear vision
  • a strong team player and collaborator attitude
  • excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders
  • Agile project experience as a product owner 
  • understanding of commercial or retail deposit and lending products 
  • strong technical background or experience leading technical teams, particularly in Infrastructure and migrations to Cloud-based platforms
  • strong understanding of compliance and regulation within the banking industry
  • strong planning and organisation skills
  • ideally some experience in vendor management.
