Physical Infrastructure, Security and Access Consultant


In the role of a Infrastructure, Physical Access Management and Physical Security Consultant you will be part of the Global Infrastructure team whose responsibility is the provision of suitable environments to host IT Infrastructure in Macquarie branch and data centre facilities communication rooms providing  subject matter expertise into design services for the technical fit-out aspects of office construction / refurbishment projects. This work extends to building access management and physical security technology.

As a result, you will need to have a broad understand of technologies covering Physical Access Controls Systems (PACS), CCTV, cabling, cooling and power. It is expected this role will help drive the strategy, standardisation and global deployment of these technologies. Your focus will be on ensuring excellent customer experience, cost effectiveness, continuous improvement and a drive for efficient operations. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • strategy development, review and revision of relevant technology stacks both new and existing
  • design and implementation for PACS, CCTV, network cabling, communications rooms for new sites and for refurbishments of existing sites
  • review of architectural & engineering drawings including provision of detailed commentary to Design Consultants, Engineers and Architects
  • providing project support and oversight of implementation work relating to any/all data centre & office installations
  • coordinating with globally disperse teams to deliver data centre and physical security technologies across the enterprise
  • supporting and enhancing operational standards and BAU requirements.

Your key skills, experience and attributes will include:

  • strategic thinking with broad knowledge across the facilities, CCTV and PACS technology stacks with a drive to improve and align to modern technology practices
  • experience collaborating with architects, consultants and engineers both Macquarie and external 3rd parties
  • knowledge and understanding of broad range of technologies including PACS, CCTV, cabling standards, communications room power and cooling, installation practices and supporting infrastructure
  • appreciation of critical building infrastructure such as redundant power paths, EPG & UPS systems, HVAC, fire suppression, access controls
  • ability for clear interpretation and accurate reading of architectural & engineering drawings
  • hands on technical knowledge of common industry technology platforms, e.g. IP networks, SAN, infrastructure hosting and virtualisation
  • “can do” attitude with an ability and willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in as required from time to time
  • recent experience in designing vertical and horizontal cabling infrastructure in commercial premises and high security locations, aligned to TIA/EIA-568-B, TIA/EIA-569-A, TIA/EIA-607
  • ideally qualified to RCDD, CDCDP or comparable industry experience.
