Lawyer – Macquarie Capital (focusing on Cash Equities)


Following the integration of Macquarie Group’s Cash Equities business into Macquarie Capital, Macquarie Capital has an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to join our legal team based in Sydney. Working directly in the business and with an award-winning team, this role offers you the opportunity to manage a diverse range of legal work for the Cash Equities business.

Sitting in the high performing and long-standing Macquarie Capital legal team, you will work closely with the Cash Equities teams on ECM and corporate trades and solutions. Working in a challenging and fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for advising and working with the institutional equity research, trading, brokerage, electronic execution and transition management teams. In addition, the role will cover equity derivative and financing transactions (including swaps and stock lending). 

Utilising your strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and manage legal issues, you’ll assist with regulatory risk, change, dispute resolution and other issues as well as assist with new business and day to day governance and operational control.

We would expect you to hold a degree in Law with a high academic achievement and 4 to 6 years Post-Qualification Experience either in-house or in private practice. You have a proven ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders across all levels and will ideally have equity markets, securities and/or ECM legal experience and well as experience in working with regulatory bodies. You are a driven, self-starter and able to work independently. You hold excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate ideas succinctly.
