Employee Relations Adviser (Junior) - Corporate Operations Group

About the role

We are seeking to employ a junior Employee Relations Adviser who will provide day to day support within the Sydney Employee Relations team. You will be working with the team in providing advice and support to specific business groups with respect to relevant employment legislation, HR practices, project work and delivery of key HR transactions.

Reporting to a Senior Employee Relations Consultant within Employee Relations, ANZ, this role supports senior management and professional employees in ANZ.  Key responsibilities include:

  • advising management and the broader HR community on relevant HR practices and employment risks.
  • supporting the ER Consultants in providing advice on practical people management and employment related issues (e.g performance management, disciplinary issues, policy and legislative interpretation).
  • interpreting and implementing HR policies in line with Macquarie policies and the broader legislative framework.
  • advising staff and liaising with external lawyers on immigration issues, and coordinating visa and residency applications.  
  • maintaining case management records and reports.
  • providing compliance, consulting and operational support where required.
  • drafting of employment documentation.

About you

You will have previous experience working within an Human Resources function providing support and consultative advice to stakeholders at all levels and a tertiary qualification in either HR/ER/IR or employment law. You will also have;

  • practical knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • good judgement to balance commerciality with risk management
  • ability to work independently as well as collaboratively providing support to others
  • ability to gain credibility and trust with all levels of employees including senior management
  • ability to deal with deadlines and time pressure
