Economist

Join our highly ranked Macro Strategy team and develop your career in this exciting role. You will join our Commodities and Global Markets Group and will see you work alongside, and be mentored by, highly experienced economists, all of whom have central banking backgrounds.

The role is in our Sydney-based Macro Strategy team which supports the global business and both local and offshore clients.  You will work closely with our Chief Economist and other members of the small macro team to provide insights on macro and financial market developments to our Institutional clients and internal stakeholders.  This will involve working with a wide range of economic and financial market data and provide you with significant opportunities to learn and show innovation.

Your strong interest in building a career as a leading economist coupled with self-motivation and dedication to achieve this, will be paramount to your success in the position. The successful candidate will have attention to detail, be innovative and creative, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

We are looking for a high level of academic achievement in an Economics or Finance discipline. You will have a passion for working with data and using it to help the team communicate its views on the macroeconomy and financial markets.  Proficiency in Excel will be assumed and programming experience in R or Python will be very highly regarded.  Ideally, you will have had around 1-3 years of experience working as an economist which may have been gained from within the public sector (e.g. Treasury/RBA) or a private-sector role (e.g. funds management, consulting).

To apply, please submit a cover letter, concise resume and Academic Transcripts as one document.  To include your cover letter and transcripts, simply insert the additional pages into the front or back of your resume and remember to upload your updated document in your Profile page. This is to ensure we receive all the relevant documents for this position. Please note that applications submitted without the required documentation attached will not be considered.
