Data Developer


Join our Technology team as a Data Developer and help us maintain a data warehouse system for the HR business in a fast-paced, and challenging environment.  You will be working closely with a collaborative and supportive business team to deliver ongoing system changes and enhancements. 

You will have varying responsibilities, including designing and developing SQL, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS solutions to automate and prepare data for HR business, supporting SAP Business Objects, and participating in our DevOps processes to support the system. In addition, you will actively manage risks, issues and drive an appropriate risk management culture in the team. You will also strategically look at the project pipeline to ascertain which pieces of work will resolve multiple issues at once.

The role will see you engaging with the business daily and expose you to opportunities to enhance your knowledge and understanding of HR systems.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • developing new data integration solutions using SQL Server (2012 & 2016), hosted on physical and cloud-based servers
  • working with Database Administrators to monitor SQL Databases and ETL load routines and troubleshoot issues
  • undertaking peer reviews, assisting with testing, and ensuring documentation is up to date
  • managing various operational environments and the processes for promoting release code between environments
  • managing and enhancing BI/DW data platforms per architecture guideline and platform governance
  • continuously review and optimize data platform, ETL orchestration and performance of reports/dashboards
  • collaborating with key business stakeholders to deliver and continually enhance the BI platform to provide relevant and accurate insights through the delivery of new datasets
  • assist in the delivery of proof of concepts to leverage emerging technology.

To make you stand out from the crowd, your skills and experience will ideally meet the below selection criteria:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working as a developer/designer in Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse space (MS BI stack; SQL, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS multidimensional and tabular preferably with version2012 and above)
  • advance SSIS/SQL/TSQL skills
  • experienced in various reporting tools (CR, Power BI, Tableau) desirable not essential
  • strong understanding of data warehousing best practice and frameworks in an enterprise environment
  • business analysis capabilities to engage and support business users in the design, development, and implementation of solutions
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
  • experience around data analysis, data modeling, data integration and database design
  • experience in Cloudera platform using Python, Scala and Java is highly regarded.
