Business Operational Risk Manager / Control Assurance

Our Market Operations Division (MOD) is looking for a Business Operational Risk Manager (BORM) to join their busy and dynamic team.

You will be responsible for the global MOD BORM Control Assurance (CA) framework. You will ensure Operational Risk is appropriately addressed and managed within MOD and is in line with Macquarie’s Operational Risk Management framework and associated policies and will facilitate the continued improvement in operational risk awareness and culture within MOD.

You will work with the Control Assurance Director to determine and provide oversight of the CA programme for MOD in line with the Operational Risk framework, this includes:  

  • Drafting performance test plans
  • Scheduling of performance testing
  • Completing CA testing on a timely basis
  • All improvements identified are entered into Open Pages  
  • CA reports are published to agreed deadlines

You will also be responsible for:

  • Management of deep dive process assessments
  • Assisting with review and maintenance of MOD control standard oversight in line with Group-wide and Divisional policies
  • Assisting with ensuring CA provides assurance of MOD’s Risk and Control Risk Self-Assessment (RCSA) and audit readiness
  • Ensuring categorisation of critical controls has been accurately determined
  • Contribution to management reporting of Control Assurance activities
  • Liaison with internal and external audit with respect to the CA programme, as required
  • Adhoc coverage of wider MOD BORM tasks, as required.

  • Desirable experience in an operational risk management particularly knowledge of Operations within the Commodities and Global Markets businesses
  • Ability to identify and analyse risks and develop effective and efficient strategies to manage risks
  • Auditing and testing capabilities
  • Ability to exercise initiative and deliver with minimal supervision whilst managing and prioritising multiple tasks
  • Work within a global team and drive results with remote/local stakeholders
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and display initiative to lead discussions with operational staff at all levels, business leaders and risk management colleagues
  • Independence of mind and ability to escalate issues where appropriate
  • Ability to make high level judgments and work closely with peers / senior management
  • Ability to manage/ execute tasks within set timeframes
  • Able to effectively process map and facilitate business walkthroughs to document existing process flows and control points
  • Ability to independently analyse complex processes/ issues
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication abilities
