M&A Advisory - Senior Analyst/Consultant (Melbourne)

About the Opportunity

Our M&A Advisory practice is a nationally integrated team of high calibre, M&A led Advisors providing transaction-focused strategic advice to private clients, corporations, private equity funds and public market companies. With a focus on the mid-market space, we advise our clients on a wide range of corporate transactions including acquisitions, divestments, recapitalisations and capital raisings.

Our leading team is currently experiencing a significant period of growth and as a result, there is an opportunity for a motivated Senior Analyst to join our Melbourne team.

About the Role

This opportunity will see you working directly with market leading M&A specialists to support with the following:

  • Executing deals with a diverse range of clients including international and national corporations, emerging companies, private businesses and private equity firms, in a range of industry sectors including healthcare, consumer business, technology, manufacturing, etc.
  • Leading a broad and challenging range of transactions types in various trusted advisor roles - including acquisitions, mergers, divestments, capital raises and strategic advisory work
  • Managing the delivery of deal documents such as strategy papers, information communications’ and management/business presentations
  • Leading the preparation of corporate valuations including comparable companies, precedent transactions and integrated operating models
  • Overall management of due diligence processes including responsibility for the data room and Q&A process
  • Liaising with key executives, shareholders, board members and other stakeholders
  • Collaborating with the team to support the end-to-end project management of transactions including direct liaison with vendors/bidders/boards and other deal stakeholders

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll be a natural collaborator with previous transaction experience, either from a M&A boutique environment, a reputable professional services firm, an investment bank or an in-house M&A team.

You’ll also be able to demonstrate:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in an M&A transaction environment or general corporate finance team with exposure to transactional activity
  • Experience running portions of buy-side processes (e.g. valuation, target screen and assessment, drafting investment papers etc.);
  • An ability to structure, draft and manage the finalisation of pitch books and other business development work to win prospective mandates;
  • Experience in training and mentoring junior analysts will be high regarded as will your natural commercial curiosity and interest to develop industry knowledge
  • MS Office skills and experience with research tools (S&P Capital IQ, etc.)
  • Completed, or progressing towards completion of a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. CA, CFA, MBA, Master of Applied Finance etc.)
