Tax Manager

Our Finance team provides the strategic and operational Finance support to all areas of our Lendlease business. This includes establishing our systems, processes and reporting platforms to support business performance, analysis and day-to-day management.

We are currently seeking a Tax Manager within our Tax Services team in Chatswood. This is a dynamic, fast paced and highly visible role where your breadth of tax experience will be utilised and your talent valued.

Reporting to the Group Head of Tax Services, you will be challenged by a role that is a key business partner to our Australian operations, managing the accurate and efficient delivery of all aspects of tax compliance and reporting activities, as well as providing technical support and advice where necessary.

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Manage the preparation and review of income tax returns, Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns for specific Australian business units, with support from a team of tax consultants;
  • Responsible for half-year and year-end tax effect accounting and tax forecasting calculations
  • Manage the annual R&D claims process for Australian group and coordination of engagement with external tax advisors
  • Taxable payments annual reporting for construction businesses
  • Manage tax transfer pricing issues relevant to specific Australian business units
  • Preparing timely and accurate responses to specific information requests from revenue authorities.
  • Provision of technical tax support and training to Finance teams and business partners in relation to operational tax issues, obligations and data requirements
  • Support Head of Tax Services and the Group Tax team on strategic initiatives, new transactions and tax opportunities
  • Working within the parameters of Group tax governance framework, ensuring policies and procedures are maintained and business tax operational risks are minimised.
  • Responsible the efficient performance of tax systems / infrastructure

This role will see you collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and building effective relationships across Business Units, Group Tax and External Advisors. You will contribute to the sharing of knowledge and information within own function and across internal stakeholders.

We are seeking a highly experienced Tax Manager, with a demonstrated track record within an in-house tax function. Broad coverage across income tax, indirect tax and employment tax is essential, together with knowledge of tax systems and tax effect accounting.

Your strengths include strong influencing and partnership skills with the ability to work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure positive business outcomes. This will be complemented by your strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through complex issues, manage tax risk and coach others in the resolution of problems. You will provide strong leadership in developing, coaching and mentoring the Tax Services team, and work effectively with other managers to ensure efficient resource allocation.
