Sustainability Manager – Retirement Living, Property

Our Property Sustainability team, based in our world class offices in Barangaroo, have a permanent position for a Sustainability Manager overseeing our Retirement Living portfolio nationally. In this position, you will focus on the strategic delivery of environmental, social and economic outcomes, thus contributing to Lendlease’s aspiration to be a recognised as a global leader in sustainability.

Reporting into the General Manager, Sustainability for Fund Management, you will assist in the delivery of specific sustainability strategies, addressing the businesses requirements within property, retirement living and ensure the integration of Lendlease’s global sustainability framework and business imperatives.

You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic team, supporting the strategic delivery of sustainability outcomes and across the Retirement Living portfolio of existing assets and new developments. With over 70 villages currently under management we are Australasia’s largest owner, operator and developer of retirement villages.

Specifically, you will:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of Sustainability Strategy and Sustainability Plans;
  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of Lendlease quarterly environmental reporting and in compliance with the annual National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act with support from Lendlease’s internal sustainability analyst;
  • Set direction, monitor and track progress with the business unit of environmental performance and key village and portfolio level environmental initiatives;
  • Have responsibility for the Retirement Living business’s Responsible Property Investment Policy and Strategy;
  • Project manage a portfolio of environmental, social and economic initiatives / campaigns; and
  • Manage and create case studies to celebrate best practice and identify models for replication;
  • Manage to internal and external sustainability communication, messaging and reporting.
  • Work within business units, to assist in providing measurable sustainability outcomes that demonstrate value to customers.

The successful candidate will demonstrate relevant and applicable sustainability experience and ideally hold a degree in engineering, environmental science, property, sustainable development, sustainability or equivalent. You would have ideally had exposure to working in the property industry with aged care and retirement living or residential being an additional benefit.


The candidate will also be able to demonstrate an ability to provide technical support on sustainability strategies within the property and development sectors and be customer focused. Your experience will include exposure to building ratings such as Green Star, BASIX, NatHERs, LHA and NABERS and you will have previous involvement in sustainability reporting.
