Sustainability Manager

The Sustainability Manager (SM) will provide sustainability support for all Property projects under development in NSW. This includes all Retirement, Communities and Urban Regeneration projects. The Sustainability Manager will help deliver sustainability outcomes across the respective projects, contributing to the Lendlease’s aspiration to be a recognised as a leader is sustainability.

The SM will support the National Sustainability Manager, Property to assist with the establishment and execution of business sustainability strategies, incorporating the core value proposition, Lendlease Sustainability Framework / targets, business and contractual requirements. The position will be focussed on supporting project work, assisting with the embedment of sustainability across the businesses, demonstrating value and ensuring that contractual and business objectives are achieved throughout the property cycle (acquisition, development, asset management and disposal).

The SM will represent Lendlease’s Urban Regeneration, Communities and Retirement Living businesses both internally and externally, providing technical support on sustainability strategy, community and village operations and development projects to achieve continuous improvement and ongoing industry leadership.

The Role:

  • Act as a facilitator within the businesses to set and deliver sustainability aspirations.
  • Ensure that sustainability initiatives are being set up strategically to enable initiatives, capabilities and lessons learnt to be shared across all asset classes.
  • Assist with the identification and commercial negotiations for partnerships where relevant to assist in achieving sustainability and commercial outcomes for projects.
  • Continually strive for improvement and work with the development teams to identify and investigate innovation opportunities.
  • Review climate change risk for all development projects.
  • Embeds national strategy in projects.
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting of key metrics and Business Unit deliverables required under by the 2020 sustainability framework targets.
  • Maintain focus throughout project development and execution on the financial parameters of the project (both quantum and quality of returns) to ensure targets are achieved or exceeded.

The successful candidate will demonstrate relevant and applicable sustainability experience and ideally hold a degree in engineering, environmental science, property, sustainable development, sustainability or equivalent.

About You:

  • 4+ years’ experience in a sustainability role your property industry experience;
  • Exposure to building ratings, certifications and benchmarks such as Green Star, NatHERs, LHA and NABERS.
  • Exposure to corporate sustainability reporting.
  • Management of; the collection, analysis and reporting of energy, carbon, water and waste data for a large portfolio of buildings using online data management platforms and Microsoft Excel.
  • .Communication of technical sustainability matters including energy, water, waste and social/community engagement initiatives to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in from key stakeholders across and external to the business.
