National Manager, EHS

We are currently looking to recruit a National Manager, EHS – Civil, infrastructure and Property Assurance, reporting to the Head of EHS and Integration – Property and Urban Regeneration.

This role is pivotal to the Property business consistently delivering on our aspiration to be Incident & Injury Free and providing a positive impact upon the environment wherever we have a presence.

In this opportunity, you will support the Communities Managing Director and Head of Living Utilities as well as work with other key internal and external stakeholders to establish a robust and integrated approach to the management of EHS starting from investment, conversion, due diligence, design, right through to delivery and operation.

You will be required to set up and subsequently lead the incident investigation programme to ensure that the overall process is robust and adequate lessons learned are captured and shared with the wider business. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and driving of an overarching Property-wide Assurance strategy focusing on GMRs, legal, contractual, operation and critical risk compliance. Responsibility for monitoring the ongoing implementation of the Property EHS systems, processes, goals and key performance indicators alongside coaching and advice to ensure all legislative requirements are complied, will also sit with this role.

We are looking for exceptional interpersonal skills and an innovative leadership style, coupled with excellent negotiation skills. You will have the ability to balance reactive compliance monitoring requirements with proactive focus and the development of leading precinct wide strategic EHS initiatives.

A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience of delivering EH&S management within development, construction and civil & infrastructure at senior management level is required. Degree or diploma qualifications in Environment, Health & Safety Management (or related field) alongside delivery of workplace based EHS training including assessment of participants against identified learning objectives (preferably hold Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessment) would be preferred. Understanding of managing environmental compliance including statutory reporting requirements on development and asset operations and understanding of the management of ISO 14001 & 18001 compliant management systems is desirable.

As this is a national role there will be regular weekly travel involved across Australia. We are however open to the preferred candidate being based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
