Maintenance Officer/Gardener


Heathglen Retirement Village is currently seeking an enthusiastic, committed and customer service focused Maintenance Officer/Gardener to join their team on a casual/part time basis, 1 day per week (no weekends).

Maintenance responsibilities include delivery of general maintenance and repairs of buildings, fixtures and fittings, facilities and associated structures in accordance with the Village Maintenance Plan. The gardening aspect of the role includes general gardening duties as well as maintenance and cleaning of common areas with in the village.

The Maintenance Officer/Gardener is responsible for making decisions in relation to the execution of the maintenance and gardening activity within the village in accordance with existing frameworks and budget ensuring all work is carried out following the correct procedures.

To be successful you must have;

  • Relevant Trade Certificate or Certificates
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated competence as a tradesperson/maintenance officer and experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated Gardening knowledge of plants, growth patterns, safe work practices for fertilisers and other chemicals.
  • Highly organised and able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Highly motivated and able to take initiative
  • Broad understanding of the legislation, regulations and requirements, and issues affecting Retirement Villages

  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
  • As this is an outdoor position the person needs to be suitably fit to work outdoors.
