Lead Data Scientist or Data Architect - Chengdu

About The Role

The Lead Data Scientist is responsible for leading a team of advanced analytics analyst and accountable for the development and delivery of analytical insights which result in business action that has a positive impact to ANZ’s financial standing, customer satisfaction levels and/or competitive advantage.

The Advanced Analytics team is tasked with balancing business insight, acumen and analytics to develop insights that informs business thinking and develops intellectual property to move the business forward. 

  • The role will advocate, evangelize and enable data-driven analytics that help grow ANZ Retail and Commercial Corporate business and customer base.
  • The role will require the incumbents become an expert on our datasets. Provide insight into leading analytic practices, design and lead iterative learning and development cycles, and ultimately produce creative analytic solutions contributing to team overall deliverables.
  • The role will work with cross-functional team members to identify and prioritize actionable, high-impact analytics opportunities across Retail and Commercial banking areas. Research, design, implement and validate cutting-edge analytics and data visualization techniques to demonstrate targeted outcomes.
  • Experience in one of the following disciplines, operations research, mathematics, applied statistics, data mining, machine learning and computer engineering is preferred. The incumbents need to have a good understanding of statistical and predictive modelling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms.

    About You
    To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience within Data Analytics, ideally across both banking industry and consulting.
  • Experience of working with large data sets, statistical techniques and analysis such as data mining, regression, clustering and segmentation.  Significant experience in working with SAS/SQL/R/Python as well as Oracle/Teradata
  • Demonstrates proven ability to innovate through proactive data discovery and idea generation
  • Knowledge of model development, assessment and maintenance lifecycle and methodologies. Experience with SAS/Revo R or another modelling tool.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline (ideally a Masters or a PHD). E.g. Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering etc
  • Knowledge of customer journey and campaign lifecycle, marketing concepts like response rates, uplift, experimental design and optimisation
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills - demonstrating the ability to sell and explain complex technical solutions across multiple domains.
