KPMG’s Innovation and Digital Solutions team works with organisations investing in blockchain and other emerging technology projects, to help identify new product and service opportunities as well as to find operational efficiency savings. Due to recent growth, the Australian Blockchain team is leading the effort to establish an Asia-Pacific (cross jurisdictional) team and is looking to appoint a Senior Manager resource to contribute to this fast-growing practice.

Your Opportunity

In your role as Engineering Lead you will guide the in-country technical teams and design re-usable and pattern-driven architecture. The role is also responsible for shaping the technology strategy of KPMG’s blockchain platform that can support several client-specific initiatives in the ASPAC region.

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience could include: 

    • Hands on experience working as a software engineer or engineering manager/director at well-respected technology companies or large enterprises that have undergone significant growth and change
    • Experience managing all aspects of the Engineering function including, technical strategy and blueprint formulation, solution design / development, product development and project management
    • Preferably experience working with and a mature understanding of various Blockchain technology stacks (e.g. R3 Corda, Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric) and distributed network architecture
    • Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases and infrastructure, particularly hosted on Azure and AWS
    • Track-record with dev/ops and collaborating with support and maintenance teams over multiple locations
    • Thorough understanding and experience in deployment methodologies, particularly for distributed network-based solutions
    • Preferably some experience implementing Blockchain solutions for various industry use cases or sector-based pilots
    • Experience in designing and delivering platform-based solutions, including continual upgrades of features (both business and technical and integration mechanisms with enterprise systems (e.g. CRM, ERP etc.)
    • Experience as an engineering leader building technology products that have scaled beyond one country

 Business / Soft-skills

    • Proven strategic and analytical capabilities. Able to communicate complex and often ambiguous situations in clear, concise and meaningful ways
    • Adaptability to varying personality traits, organisational cultures and demands. Ideally have worked in a consulting environment, with clients’ needs and commercials prioritised
    • Ability to manage cross-cultural team with diverse cultural backgrounds across the ASPAC region
    • Experienced stakeholder management skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
    • Experience in agile development and establishing best practice for agile processes and delivery methods
    • Work with clients and partner teams to translate the organisational strategy into a coherent technology strategy

  

Leadership

    • Demonstrated experience of mentoring, motivating and leading Engineering teams to produce a vibrant and productive engineering culture, developing the leadership and management capabilities of individuals within the team
    • Respect for individual and cultural diversity, with the ability to work across jurisdictions in the ASPAC region
    • Robust understanding of distributed teams and solutions and how to co-ordinate teams to deliver a high quality product in an effective and efficient manner
    • Demonstrated experience building cross regional teams from a small base, recruiting top calibre candidates across all engineering functions, and implementing and sustaining high performance and high growth over time
    • Experience building large scale client-centred innovations and products
    • A passion for technology and a desire to build great products that make an impact
