Director - Operations Advisory (Telecommunications, Media & Technology focus)

KPMG’s Operations Advisory group works with clients to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations and to successfully execute against their objectives. The team draws on a combination of professional, talented people, powerful KPMG methodologies and global resources. As the practice continues to grow, we are looking for a high calibre Operations Specialist to join the Sydney team at Director-level on a permanent basis. The position would primarily serve clients within our Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) sector group.

Working within our team you will engage collaboratively with some of the brightest minds, while undertaking significant commercial projects that solve critical operational problems at some of the nation's most respected companies. Joining our team you will support KPMG and its client’s by:

  • Focusing on business development through maintaining strong relationships with clients during and post engagements and through building strong professional networks;
  • Developing compelling and differentiated value propositions in opportunity pursuits;
  • Working in collaboration with colleagues across the wider Operations Advisory team nationally and globally as well as collaborating with other service lines and sector groups to leverage the breadth of the firm’s expertise and innovation;
  • Overseeing complex client engagements, acting as a key contact and relationship owner with senior stakeholders, building confidence and trust with the client to develop a deep understanding of their challenges, while leading the development of innovative solutions;
  • Bringing passion and deep expertise that positions you as being an inspirational role model and leader within the Operations Advisory team;
  • Supporting a high performance culture to consistently deliver quality outcomes for clients and great growth opportunities for junior colleagues;
  • Partnering with clients to solve and implement solutions to address complex challenges across their business (End to End);
  • Analysing, workshopping and presenting insights and recommendations enabled by strategic thinking, technical knowledge and exceptional communication skills;
  • Leading day to day engagements with clients and KPMG teams to understand root cause issues, potential solutions and articulate business benefits;
  • Supporting the growth and development of more junior team members through technical training, skills coaching and mentoring.

How are Extraordinary?

You will describe yourself as an Operations Specialist and bring relevant experience to the role, particularly defining Operations Strategy & Governance frameworks, Target Operating Model design, Risk/Opportunity assessment and Maturity Assessment & Remediation.

You will have:

  • Substantial experience in Business Operations / Operations advisory within Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) sectors;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Economics, Science, Engineering, Technology or related disciplines will be highly regarded, with an advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, or PhD) advantageous;
  • Experience in successfully leading large teams or business groups / sub-groups;
  • Experienced in leading multiple concurrent teams or workstreams;
  • Possess confidence to drive proposals in a sales environment;
  • Be familiar with project management methodology and have experience working in a project environment;
  • Have a questioning mind and curiosity for understanding complex problems;
  • Be a critical thinker with strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Proven experience building strong client and industry relationships, up to up to C-Level at ASX listed firms (or equivalent);
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication / interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact across a wide range of stakeholders;
  • A strategic thinker with evidenced experience / ability for rapidly developing an understanding of complex organisational problems and structuring innovative, industry-leading solutions;
  • Experience in driving sales efforts, including identification of opportunities, leading the development of proposal documentation and confidently presenting to buyers / clients;
  • Evidenced leadership experience across a number of the below areas:
    • Business Strategy;
    • Process Improvement;
    • Process Automation;
    • Cost Reduction/Profitability;
    • Operating Model;
    • Business Transformation;
    • Organisational Change Management;
    • Financial Management/Reporting;
    • Customer Experience Management;
    • Contact Centre Management;
    • Visual Management;
    • Operations forecasting.

You will have demonstrated your experience in a consulting environment and/or within industry, where you have developed significant subject matter expertise. You will need to bring the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and to build strong client relationships.

You will have substantial proficiency in managing all aspects of a project including: facilitating workshops, influencing and guiding key stakeholders and mentoring team members.

**Please note that if you are currently based in Melbourne you will be required to travel approximately 50% of the time.
