KPMG’s CFO Advisory practice combines deep industry knowledge with technical accounting, finance operations and reporting excellence; we partner with CFOs and finance teams to help them meet the challenges of a complex and evolving business environment. Leveraging our firm wide expertise, CFO Advisory offers services including: finance function establishment, integration, separation and review; financial and regulatory process and control assessments/(re)design; performance monitoring; Data quality management; finance project, change management and resource support; transaction structuring and post deal implementation; Financial reporting compilation services, and accounting standards interpretation and practical application advice.

Your new role:

With continued growth in our CFO Advisory team, we are now seeking a Director specialising in IFRS / Deal advisory to join our practice.  Based in Sydney, with operations nationally the focus of this team is to assist our clients achieve compliance with financial reporting obligations.  Working alongside an experienced team and serving a broad range of clients across the Corporate and Financial Services and sectors, you will support and drive our strategy by:

  • Contributing to the development and review of our sector strategies, including identifying opportunities for future service delivery and participating in business development initiatives to support continued growth in the sectors
  • Drive delivery of engagements within multi-disciplinary teams focusing on major transactions. Recent significant transactions have included the NSW asset divestments and sale of significant infrastructure assets across all States, including achieving “off balance sheet” objectives.
  • Managing the delivery of implementation projects for new accounting standards (e.g. AASB 15, AASB 16 and/or AASB 17) with our clients.
  • Developing and implementing the IFRS and Deal Advisory strategy within CFO Advisory. This includes building and maintaining relationships with key clients, external advisors and the broader KPMG Deals team and developing “go to market” propositions.
  • Identifying opportunities for future service delivery improvements, participating in business development initiatives, and driving our innovation and business growth agenda.

     

    You bring to the role:

  • CA (or equivalent) qualifications with a strong accounting and/or audit and assurance background, with approximately 10+ years of relevant business experience gained in Professional Services and/or relevant sector
  • Experience in another Big4 or similar sized consultancy would be highly desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of, and experience in, the relevant sector, including a well-developed network of business contacts
  • Prior experience in sector specific accounting principles, and specific financial reporting requirements (including understanding of financial systems and processes) is desirable
  • A commercial and analytical mindset with complex problem solving skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and present your ideas with impact to clients and other key stakeholders
  • Experience in leading teams and providing training and guidance to build performance
  • Project management skills including experience in making strategic decisions across multiple engagements
