Consultant- Project Risk Consulting (Planner)

KPMG’s Project Risk Consulting team works with project owners, including government and the private sector, investing in long term construction and infrastructure projects, to help protect them against major delays, cost overruns, waste and irregularities. Due to recent growth, the Melbourne team is looking for a Consultant to work on some of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects and contribute to this fast-growing practice.

Your Opportunity

As a member of the Project Risk Consulting team, you could expect to assist clients by:

  • Performing advanced professional work related to a variety of planning, scheduling and project control assignments.
  • Managing and reviewing complex schedules/ programs, construction methodologies, project execution plans (PEP), site plans and planning software applications (e.g. Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, etc).
  • Working with clients to develop project budgets, administer planning processes, verify actual progress data and capture key schedule changes.
  • Performing field inspections to gather actual data relevant to the schedule development/ update process and/ or to verify the accuracy of progress reports.

How you're Extraordinary

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will:

  • Have relevant qualifications with a strong project management or engineering background.  With approximately 3+ years of relevant civil or related construction and/ or project management experience either in the government or private sectors.
  • Currently possess or are working towards obtaining relevant professional memberships, either in engineering or project management.
  • Have prior planning, scheduling or project controls experience and a track record of working in a professional services environment.
  • Be proficient with the use of scheduling software including Primeavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis (preferable but not essential), Microsoft Project, ASTA and Acumen Fuse (preferable).
  • Have well-developed written and communication skills, including the ability to work to deadlines and in a team environment.
  • Possess high level project management, report writing and commercial acumen skills.
  • Be highly competent in Earned Value Performance Management (EPVM) technique.
  • Lead and coach others in engagements, and mentor staff as they grow in their capabilities, careers and client service impact.
