Business Development Director - Financial Services

  • Immerse yourself in our inclusive, diverse and supportive culture
  • Collaborate with sector and technical experts to grow your knowledge and network
  • Play a leading role in the growth of our Financial Services sector

KPMG is one of the most trusted and respected global professional services firms. Through depth of expertise, clarity of insight and strength of purpose we help our clients solve complex challenges, steer change, strengthen, transition and grow. We are looking for talented people who share our purpose of inspiring confidence and empowering change for our clients, our people and our communities

KPMG is committed to achieving better outcomes for the well-being of all Australians. We work with clients across the public, private and not for profit sectors to help them solve their most complex strategic and operational management problems. Improving performance and impact while reducing cost remains a critical challenge as does building organizational capability, developing leaders and driving real culture change.

KPMG's Financial Services Group has the opportunity for a strategic Business Development Director to work closely with its Major Account Leader and broader Financial Services sector leadership to support the business in its next growth phase.

Combining a market facing focus with strong account management disciplines, this role will offer you the opportunity to support KPMG in their growth strategies and assist with major cross firm proposals and business development activities.

In particular KPMG has the opportunity to work with a major financial services institution on a once in a generation transformation of its entire enterprise that will have profound long term impacts on the development of the Australian financial services sector, and potentially enable the Client to pursue its global ambitions. The Business Development Director is expected to mobilise the best of KPMG’s global expertise and solutioning, and be a key change architect for the Client.

Your new role

  • Work on a portfolio of clients, including a major Strategic Account within the Financial Services sector
  • Identify white space and gather information on new client issues through primary (face-to-face) meetings. Personally lead development of those relationships where KPMG has no existing relationship owner
  • Work with and across functions and functional partners to enhance sales efforts within target clients. Agree sales strategies to penetrate accounts, assign ownership for relationships with key stakeholders and ensure appropriate visibility at board level.
  • In conjunction with Lead Partners, drive the creation, and lead the execution of, focused Client Account Plans to develop our relationships and optimize our revenues/opportunities
  • Build the strategies for marketing and thought leadership activities and ensure return on investment is measured through deepened relationships and increased opportunities for KPMG to work with the client.
  • Manage tenders and pitch processes for your defined portfolio, providing challenge and support.  Ensure that our client knowledge is best represented, and inject the client perspective into the process.  This includes developing clear value propositions.
  • Bring new ideas and methods to the account and liaise with other account team members to ensure that best practice is shared, client and sector intelligence is communicated and the team has a good understanding of what services are selling well

How are you Extraordinary?

At KPMG, we believe diversity of thought, background and unique experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful benefits to our people, our clients and communities.

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience could include:

  • Proven strong experience in a sales or client-facing professional role, in a complex solutions environment
  • Demonstrated relevant industry sector experience in working with Financial Services organisations
  • Experience in professional services, a technology organisation or multi-channel, multi-function solution-led organisation would be an advantage
  • Excellent written and presentational skills and the ability to analyse data and prepare reports
  • Resilience and an ability to perform in a fast paced and varied work environment
  • A positive mindset and strong interpersonal skills
