Associate - Sr. Associate (Technology, Media, Telecommunications) - KPMG Law

KPMG Law is a legal firm embedded within KPMG and focuses on bringing together multidisciplinary teams with deep local and international experience to tackle our clients’ most challenging problems. We offer an extensive range of legal services and we work closely with our other KPMG colleagues offering a true multidisciplinary approach. Our core practice areas include: Financial Services & Regulatory, Corporate/M&A, Securities and Funds, TMT, Data Security & IP, Real Estate and Workplace & Employment Law.

Your Opportunity

As our Technology, Media, Telecommunications (TMT) practice continues to grow, we are hiring high performing lawyers ranging from Associate to Senior Associate levels.

The TMT practice in Sydney is headed by a recognised global expert in the TMT sector who has significant experience in Australia, Asia and the Middle East focussing on the tech, telecom and sports / leisure sectors.  The practice is a corporate and commercial practice focussing on strategic and transformational matters for our clients.

As a member of the team, you’ll work on an interesting range of challenging cutting-edge domestic and international work, including:

  • Complex corporate matters ranging from acquisitions and joint ventures to strategic deals and telecoms infrastructure projects;
  • Tech and telecom commercial matters such as the introduction of new technologies, enterprise wide transformational projects, outsourcing and managed services arrangements; and
  • sports related matters, including game-wide restructurings, media and sponsorship agreements, club participation arrangements and new technologies.

In addition, you will work with different businesses within the broader KPMG group. This includes:

  1. Working with the tech advisory team as they implement new technologies to clients across a range of sectors, gaining a level of exposure to those technologies which isn’t possible within a traditional law firm;
  2. Working with the corporate advisory team to get far earlier exposure to deals; and
  3. Working with the management consulting business as they look to implement new strategies for clients.

How are you Extraordinary?

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience will likely include:

  • An Australian law qualification with between 2 to 7 years of post-qualification experience;
  • Previous experience working on complex corporate and commercial matters, preferably in the TMT sector;
  • Being adaptable and personable, keen to work outside the ‘traditional’ law firm model and collaborate with KPMG’s broader advisory teams; and
  • Being intellectually curious, open-minded and analytical, with an eye for detail and pride in your work.
