Java Developer


Join our Technology team that works in tandem with our Commodities and Global Markets Group as a Java Developer. Our Commodities and Global Markets Group is a global trading and hedging, financing and research operation within Macquarie and is a core and profitable business with strong global foundations. You’ll be part of our dynamic and collaborative global team which builds and improves a large range of applications supporting this business.

In this role you will:

  • design and develop software in the Java programming language
  • communicate with business users within and outside our Agile development teams to understand their wants and needs
  • be part of the planning and execution of a strategic project that will commence this year
  • perform production release planning and execution
  • participate in second line production system support and incident response
  • explore and grow through experimentation, hackathons, learning, community involvement and more.

To be set for success you will have:

  • 4+ years’ experience as a software engineer
  • programming skills in Java (or similar)
  • object-oriented software analysis and design experience
  • relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • good communication and collaboration skills.

Experience looked upon favourably, but not essential:

  • Sybase, MS SQL and/or Object databases
  • Frameworks including Multithreading and Spring
  • CI/CD environments and Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Unix scripting
  • Micro-services, containerisation and public cloud
  • financial industry experience.
