Retail Manager, Melbourne Central - 12 month contract (3 days per week job share)

The Retail Manager is responsible for the ongoing retail management and administration component of the Centre, including the management of critical retailers and key team members to ensure the delivery of the key initiatives including lease adherence, retailer engagement strategy, retailer assignments, centre & financial reports and tenancy delivery.

The principal tasks of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • To have a solid understanding of the centre’s Key Performance Indicators
  • Establish relationships with critical/key opinion leaders and key performance retailers to understand the market conditions, fluctuations in their business and ensure a proactive response to their needs.
  • Undertake quarterly competitor visits to understand movements and changes within the retail market.
  • Monitor lease compliance and ensure delivery of retailer standards.
  • Compliance with assignment procedures and legislation with a view to managing the process of assessing and recommending any prospective assignees.
  • Contribute to the operational asset leasing process to ensure the vision is achieved in the retail mix for the short term strategy.
  • Proactively monitor the debtors’ situation to ensure that any critical retailers are identified early and managed.
  • Leadership of administration team.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area of Business or Property.
  • Strong understanding of the Retail industry and sector.
  • Proven track record in the field of Centre Management or Retail Management– minimum 5 years’ experience – preferably as a Centre Manager or Retail Manager.
  • Ability to develop and deliver business strategies in an innovative and dynamic way that results in strong centre performance across all key business indicators.
  • Ability to deliver key initiatives on time.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • High level of commercial acumen and financial understanding.
  • Strong knowledge of Retail Leases Act.
