Resource Planner

About the opportunity:

You will be responsible for the allocation of audit and advisory resources across client engagements with a focus on ensuring optimal staff utilisation, exceptional client service, employee engagement and retention, and engagement profitability. Resource Management also assists the business by providing a balance between its decisions that impact our people, our clients and our operational performance. Ultimately, we aim to have the right people scheduled on the right projects, balancing their abilities along with opportunities for development whilst incorporating Deloitte’s strive for client service excellence and engagement profitability.

About the work

Key duties include:

  • Joining in on weekly conference calls and meetings
  • Continuous communication with practitioners and management
  • Allocating staff onto assignments, judging the best fit from the pool of resources
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders to mitigate impacts of people movements and changing client needs.
  • Ensuring a high compliance rate for internal systems.
  • Review and interpretation of capacity, headcount and other relevant metric reports
  • Lead majority of resource conflict/requirement resolution process.
  • Build a thorough understanding career aspirations, interests and skills for all staff up to Senior Analyst.
  • Ensuring practitioners are keeping their resumes up to date on a regular basis.

  • Ability to build relationships, consult and influence key stakeholders
  • Highly motivated, confident and solutions focused
  • Highly-organised with strong attention to detail
  • Strong listening and analytical skills necessary to resolve intricate staffing issues
  • Ability to prepare, interpret and analyse financial data and reports
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, deal with ambiguity and changing/conflicting priorities, and cope with a constantly changing landscape.
  • Ability to work with and respect confidential and personal information
  • Confidence dealing with staff of all levels
  • Effective time management, actioning and delivering workload with an appropriate sense of urgency

Technical requirements:

  • Understanding of project management methodologies and life cycles.
  • Understanding of professional services environment with basic knowledge in resource management and career development.
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Excel – intermediate
  • SME in use of BU’s resource scheduling system
