About the role

We are recruiting for a Consultant specialising in Data Protection and Information Risk Management to join our internal, Confidentiality and Information Security team in our Sydney or Perth office. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in privacy and information risk management.

There will be opportunities to lead projects and to implement strategies that will transform the way we do security. This role presents an excellent opportunity for someone to develop their privacy and information security expertise and to gain exposure to the entire firm, including senior management. As part of a larger team, this role will report through to the Chief Information Security Officer and will:

  • Provide privacy, information security & risk management advice to the firm;
  • Work with different teams within the firm to risk assess the delivery of services to our clients and identify practical strategies to manage confidentiality and privacy risk;
  • Create, review & update policies, standards and guidelines;
  • Provide guidance to staff regarding application of the Privacy Act;
  • Lead and/or assist in the design & implementation of data protection initiatives;
  • Participate in information governance forums;
  • Develop & deliver security, data protection, confidentiality & privacy training; and
  • Define our confidentiality culture strategies and author communications

About you:

You will have a minimum of 4 years of applied privacy, information security and/or information risk management knowledge with demonstrated experience implementing privacy or information security programs. Additional competencies include:

  • Experience providing privacy and/or information risk management advice to business (to business clients or internally within a business)
  • Experience undertaking risk assessments, controls improvement and compliance assurance;
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and management;
  • Project management experience;
  • Experience working with legal teams on privacy and confidentiality matters;
  • Exceptional verbal and written business communication skills;
  • Confident and clear presentation skills are mandatory;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
