About the role

The Deloitte Indirect Tax group focuses on improving the transactional and trading environment of business. As part of our Indirect Tax team, you’ll provide consulting advice and compliance expertise to clients for federal indirect taxes, including goods and services tax (GST), customs and international trade, and fuel tax credits.

We advise a range of clients, from government bodies to energy and resources clients, property developers to the aged care industry, and the mining services industry. Indirect tax is a hot topic for many businesses, because efficiency in this area can make a difference of millions to the bottom line.

This role is responsible for providing support to Partners, Directors and Managers in delivery of client service, and managing client relations on a day to day basis.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing indirect tax advice, compliance and consultancy services across a range of indirect tax matters including M&A, corporate restructuring, property developments, cross border issues and managing ATO reviews and queries.
  • Being the primary point of contact for a number of clients and managing the client ledgers.
  • Assist in billing and controlling of Work In Progress, adhering to budget and deadline constraints
  • Analyse clients’ needs and professional service requirements and determines appropriate action
  • Building relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities with current clients.
  • Maintain quality control on assignments and projects.
  • To develop strong client relationships and look for opportunities to acquire new work through existing client relationships
  • Take responsibility for developing contacts with a small number of target contacts and supports the marketing team with new initiatives.

About you

You will be degree qualified in Accounting, Business Administration or Law and be working in a top-tier or mid-tier accounting or legal firm with a CA or be Masters of Tax/Law qualified.

Possessing excellent communication and presentation skills and with a high attention to detail you will draw on your corporate and commercial experience to think strategically to achieve the firm’s objectives and build strong relationships.
