About our Team

As part of our Economics and Commercial Advisory practice, our team of engaged and motivated consultants deliver market-leading business case solutions in response to diverse and complex public sector challenges. Our advice is grounded in robust evidence-based economic and financial analyses and tailored to achieve the optimal commercial, government, social and environmental outcomes for our clients.

Our Sydney team of 15 is part of a broader national team of business case specialists that draws regularly on the capabilities of our colleagues across the Firm to deliver multi-disciplinary insights to our clients.

Our work is both challenging and rewarding. We have advised on some of the largest and most significant government investments in NSW and Australia across a range of sectors, including transport, technology, arts and culture, social services, health, education, land reform and utilities.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Analyst who can take full responsibility for writing and developing business cases for our infrastructure clients. This will include both qualitative and quantitative aspects including completion of economic and financial appraisals The person will also contribute to internal project management and liaising with clients.

In this role, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute enthusiastically to innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Articulate complex issues succinctly and professionally.
  • Develop the highest standard of detailed economic and financial analyses to inform investment and strategic decisions for our clients.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Firm to develop transdisciplinary solutions and implementation strategies.
  • Support the development of more junior team members.
  • Build and maintain collaborative and professional relationships with clients and across the Deloitte network.
  • Coach, mentor and develop junior staff
  • Maintain and further develop relationships with a wide range of critical internal and external stakeholders and client

About You

You will bring to the role:

  • A positive team focused attitude
  • 4 - 8 years of experience developing business cases working either within public service or in a similar consulting environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present during stakeholder meetings
  • A commitment to contributing to a multi-disciplined team effort.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Economics, Public Policy, Commerce, Law, Finance
  • An understanding of how financial and economic issues impact Government
  • An understanding of the economic principles impacting cost-benefit analysis
  • Ability to build strong relationships with manager, clients, internal and external stakeholders and team members
  • A problem solving approach to work
  • An appreciation of risk and how this can influence client’s decisions
  • Persuasive report writing and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office suite
  • An inquisitive mind
