We are seeking a passionate communicator to join our External Communications team. In this role, you’ll be working with some of the best communications and marketing professionals in Australia, in a dynamic, fast-moving environment, across a wide-ranging portfolio of internal clients.

About our team

The External Communications team builds and protects the reputation of Deloitte and the eminence of our partners, through media & other channels. You’ll be joining a tight-knit, highly experienced group, advising some of the sharpest minds in business on public relations campaigns and initiatives that are complex, challenging and exciting.

About the role

You’ll have strong media relations experience and are looking for the next challenge. This role will put your exemplary media and writing skills to work to help develop and implement media and communications programs that build and protect the reputation of Deloitte and its partners, and support Deloitte’s related Marketing Communications & Business Development (MCBD) campaigns.

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Proactive and reactive media engagement: identify suitable profiling opportunities; develop, advise on, and implement, media strategy; write media releases and other media content; help champion effective media evaluation across the team
  • Write/edit thought leadership, blogs and other marketing collateral that will support eminence building for service lines and industry groups
  • Strategic communication and management: help develop communications and public relations strategies that support Deloitte Service Line/Industry/Firm/MCBD priorities; and manage the needs of all stakeholder groups when launching media campaigns

About your experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and suitable public relations experience.
  • Strong media relations skills, particularly in terms of proactive media engagement
  • Strong writing skills and mastery of a range of tones of voice for different media channels; emphasis on media releases, opinion editorials and thought leadership points of view, web copy, blogs, social media posts and scripts
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and influencing skills - able to build relationships and gain confidence quickly, in order to manage internal clients of varying levels of seniority
  • Excellent time management skills; competent at juggling workload / multiple clients
  • Experience in a B2B public relations agency or as a media advisor would be advantageous, particularly in financial services, professional services, or technology.
