Manager Corporate Development


A rare opportunity has recently become available to join a global leader in their Corporate Development Team as a direct report to the Chief Corporate Development Officer in the position of Manager - Corporate Development.

The Corporate Development Team works with the CEO, the Board and the Global Management team to develop and lead/ assist in the execution of corporate strategic and transactional projects including mergers, acquisitions and divestments. The team also supports the CEO and CFO in key company changing initiatives and business and operational improvement initiatives.

Based at our Global Head office in Melbourne, Australia, this team has a global focus and remit to seek out strategic opportunities while working with our global network and will see the successful applicant working on inorganic projects or major strategic development work. With a proven history of successful growth through M&A this is a unique opportunity to join an in-house corporate development function where you will help pursue value accretive M&A opportunities.

The key areas of focus for this strategic role include (but are not limited to):

  • Identifying, evaluating and assessing of Market opportunities, including preparing detailed analysis and reports for the CEO and/or Board assessment
  • Merger, acquisition and divestment assessments, including developing, managing and reviewing detailed financial models as well as using other analysis and research techniques to provide relevant information for appropriate decisions to be made
  • Project management, or project work stream leadership on large scale projects. This may include leading and directing peers, executives and external stakeholders and advisers
  • Developing strategies and tactics for inorganic opportunities and involvement, where required, in legal documentation reviews, negotiations and program management.
  • An ability to structure, draft and manage the production of reports and presentations which are appropriate to communicate at Board and executive level, and assist the Investor Relations function as required for any potential investor messaging
  • Developing strategies, methodologies and models for effective integration of target businesses into the organisation.

To successfully make your mark in this outstanding opportunity you will rely on your strong relationship skills, demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders, and a refined ability to read situations and adapt accordingly. Your advanced financial analysis, project management, excellent communication and negotiation skills, paired with your exceptional grasp of customary software and research tools and business writing skills will see you successfully joining this dynamic team.

This role is an ideal career opportunity for someone with experience in working in M&A at either an investment bank, chartered firm (including in Transaction support and Valuations) or a corporate role. We are seeking a strong analytical thinker, with a proactive approach and teamwork focus. Your proven experience working on large scale merger and acquisition opportunities and developing key presentation material to support these initiatives will be paramount to your success, as will your post graduate qualifications.
