Cloud Platform Developer

Based in our Sydney office we require a Cloud Platform Developer to join our cloud technology team. You will design and develop web application user interfaces, work on cloud technology and help drive Macquarie's strategic initiatives.

Join a highly agile “two pizza” development team working on a global cloud project which is changing the way the organisation delivers software.  Our team delivers at a fast pace to match the feature pipeline from cloud providers and the changing needs of our application teams. 

The team is delivering cloud via a fully automated application (developer) driven model leveraging modern software principles such as continuous delivery, infrastructure as code and immutable deployments.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • develop solutions for effective integration with our cloud providers and their services        
  • develop simple to use front end GUIs on our web platforms (HTML, JavaScript, Java)
  • deliver new features and functionality on our backend framework (Ruby, JavaScript)
  • design, implement and test solutions for new components or modifications to existing functionality
  • perform peer code reviews
  • participate as a member of a global distributed team
  • write product specification and technical documentation
  • participate in operational & support activities as a member of the DevOps team.

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with solid skills in engineering full stack solutions
  • experience in designing and implementing systems that offer optimal user experience and efficiency
  • strong software development skills in one or more of the following languages - Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Node.js       
  • test driven development and automated UI Testing
  • DevOps mindset, with a drive to automate processes and workflows
  • strong sense of ownership and drive
  • excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Working knowledge (or willingness to learn):

  • cloud experience (AWS, Google)
  • microservices and serverless architectures  
  • Linux or Windows configuration and administration
  • networking and security
  • demonstrate security focus and awareness in development practices.
