Design Manager

The opportunity will be in a growing and vibrant team and requires a confident, capable individual who has significant experience from a variety of industries and disciplines such as buildings, roads and land infrastructure to deliver Defence projects and take on a leadership role. You will assume management responsibilities working within established teams to deliver a portfolio of projects from feasibility stage through to final hand over to the client.

Ideally, you will be technically capable and have proven talent managing stakeholders and teams across the various projects you will be responsible for. It is imperative you have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills; and a cooperative, friendly approach to business. You will have experience in leading and managing teams and providing guidance and support in the career development of staff. For the roles of Senior Design Manager, we are targeting individuals who:

  • Possesses a relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Architecture or other related fields
  • Can demonstrate experience in managing teams and delivering design projects from $100k through to $20M in capital value, with particular focus, but not limited to refurbishment, compliance upgrades and re-life of buildings.
  • Strong Background in MEP Design, understanding of other building design disciplines and possess Construction Phase experience.
  • Have the ability to maintain and build upon new and existing relationships
  • Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and the ability to work within a diverse team
  • Have solid commercial acumen and ability to plan and forecast workload plus set and commit to budgets
  • Have a track record of successful delivery of large programmes of work
  • Willing to be held to account for schedule performance

Appointee will be located in Canberra; a preparedness to relocate as projects conclude may be advantageous. It is a project requirement that the successful candidate is an Australian Citizen, in order to obtain an appropriate security clearance. Existing base line security clearance will be an advantage.
