Senior Bridge Engineer, Newcastle

Our Newcastle office has recently acquired several exciting projects critical to the growth and development of the local region, and broader New South Wales. The projects build on our portfolio of exciting projects in Australia such as Barangaroo, Wynyard Station, and 5 Martin Place .

A Senior Bridge Engineer is sought to join us in Newcastle.

Do you have a strong bridge design background and understanding of the construction of bridges and civil structures?   Do you have a flair for collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams?  If so, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design and analysis of complex concrete/steel bridge structures and temporary works in accordance with the relevant design codes and standards. 
  • Deliver design documentation including drawings, specifications and reports in accordance with Client quality standards.
  • Assist in the supervision and guidance of junior engineers and overview design calculations and details of the other engineers and drafters. 
  • Develop innovative design alternates for options studies, tender designs, cost savings, etc.
  • Ability to work on fast paced design and construct projects and pursuits. 
  • Provide construction phase support on a wide array of projects and structural types.
  • Perform load ratings for bridge structures.
  • Other assignments as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and to have, or be eligible to obtain chartered status with Engineers Australia or a mutually recognised organisation.  
  • Design and documentation to Roads and Maritime/Sydney Trains/Transport for NSW/ARTC experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years bridge design experience.
  • Strong technical skills in complex structural analysis including construction stage analysis and design of various types of bridge structures is required. 
  • Experience with Midas Civil/Midas FEA software packages is an advantage.
  • Design and Construct experience is an advantage.
